How to register to vote

Who can register?

• Any non-incarcerated U.S. citizen who is at least 18 years of age can register to vote in their county if they have lived there for at least the last 30 days.

Am I already registered?

• You can check with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) to see if you are registered to vote.

How can I register?

• You can register online with ISBE.
• You can register at your County Clerk's office.

What do I need to bring to register to vote?

• Bring two forms of identification. At least one of these must have your current address at which you are registering.
• Examples of valid identification includes an Illinois Driver's License, Illinois State ID, U.S. Passport, Social Security Card, work or school ID, bank statement, court papers, and mail from an official source such as a utility bill.

What do I need to bring to vote?

• No documentation is required to vote if you are registered.

How can I vote?

• You can request a mail ballot from ISBE
• If you prefer to vote in person, you can find your early voting location or find your polling place to vote on election day.
